What's New In The Office?

FEBRUARY

Monday, February 10th - Friday, 28th:  Penny & Supply Drive for the Humane Society

Wednesday, 12th:  Early Release at 12:30 pm

Monday, 17th:  NO SCHOOL for students -- Staff Professional Development Day

Friday, 21st:  PTO Popcorn Day

Monday, 24th:  Oakwood PTO Meeting @ 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Thursday, 27th:  Timber Rattler FANG Reading Program kick-off with FANG visiting at lunch!


LOOKING AHEAD...

Wednesday, March 4th (daytime):  During the day, Author Sarah Weeks will be here meeting with all grade levels.  Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this event, what a wonderful opportunity for our students to have the chance to meet her and have her sign books.  Parents are welcome to attend with their child at one of the 3 set times she will be reading.  (Times will be coming out soon.)

Wednesday, March 4th (evening):  One School - One Book Family Night, 5:00 - 7:00 pm

Friday, March 6th:  Oakwood Family Herd Night (order tickets soon!!)

Wednesday, March 11th:  Early Release at 12:30 pm

Thursday, March 19th:  Spring Concert for grades 3, 4, and 5 @ Alberta Kimball Auditorium (West High School)

March 23 - 27:  Spring Break


 

**Order forms were sent home with students the week of January 20th.  The deadline for ticket orders is February 21st.

Penny & Supply Drive for Oshkosh Humane Society

Student Council will be holding a Penny and Supply Drive for the Oshkosh Humane Society from February 10-28.  Students can bring change and bills or items that are most needed for the shelter to benefit the animals and all of the great things the Humane Society does for our community. This effort will go along with our theme from our One School One Book and the book Pie.  Please consider helping us with our effort. Here is a list of items for the supply drive. Thank you for your support!

Most Needed Items

  • Purina One Healthy Kitten dry food

  • Purina One Smartblend Chicken & Rice or Lamb & Rice dry dog food

  • Purina Tender Selects Blend with Real Chicken dry cat Food

  • Paper towels

  • Windex or Sparkle glass cleaner

  • Canned cat or dog food

  • Copy paper

  • Snack-size paper plates

  • Canned tuna in water

  • Gift Cards for the following stores: Fleet Farm, Pick N Save, Festival Foods, Piggy Wiggly, Walmart

  • Dryer sheets


 

Timber Rattler Reading Program 2020

A timeline of the program is below:

February 27th- Fang is coming to visit all lunch hours to get kids pumped up for the program. He will arrive at 10:45 and check in at the office.

March 2nd- The program begins! Please send sheets home with the kids detailing their reading goals.

March 16th- First base is due. Students will receive TR stickers for completing this base. 

April 2nd- Second base is due. Students will receive a Fang bookmark for completing this base. 

April 20th- Third base is due. Students will receive a TR wristband for completing this base. Please send home the order forms. Teachers/staff also get a free ticket, so don’t forget to include your order form!

May 4th- Order forms are due to me. 

May 30th- The Oakwood game is at 6:30 at the Timber Rattler stadium in Appleton. Let’s all get together and celebrate our children and their success at reading!

Parenting is the world’s most difficult job. Over 700 Oshkosh area parents have completed this non-judgmental course in a relaxed setting. They learned practical parenting skills and used them immediately. You can too!

Who:  Anyone who works with kids or has children of their own.  Join us!

Seminar is a total of 6 sessions:

Monday from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Emmeline Cook Elementary School:  2-3-20, 2-10-20, 2-24-20, 3-02-20, 3-9-20 and 3-16-20.  (Daycare provided for these 6 sessions through community learning center)

Cost:  $10 for the cost of the manual
