Dear Oakwood School Families,
We have made it to the halfway point! Second semester has begun and we are SO proud of the progress your children have been making!!
Winter time can be difficult when it comes to finding things to do. Did you know that playing board games has many benefits???
Here are just a few:
-
Board games increase brain function. This activity is a wonderful exercise for the brain. Because playing stimulates brain areas that are responsible for complex thought and memory formation for both – kids and adults, it assists in practicing essential cognitive skills, such as problem solving and decision making.
-
It brings laughter and decreases stress.
-
Board game playing creates happiness.
-
It brings people closer and strengthens relationships.
-
One of the most amazing benefits of board games playing, is that such traditional plays pull people out of the digital world. Board games engage in activities that do not involve staring at a smartphone, tablet or computer screen.
-
It lowers blood pressures.
-
It teaches how to set goals and be patient.
-
Board games enhance creativity and self confidence.
Seems like winning reasons to break out those games and spend some time as a family!
Happy February Everyone,
Susan L Martin - Principal

This last table below has "pairs" of gloves/mittens.

Students have been busy working on their Art to Remember project in Mrs. O's art class. Art to Remember is a fundraiser that gives you an opportunity to purchase keepsake items customized with your child's artwork. Look for more information in March, when your child will bring home an order form. Over the years, the Art to Remember fundraiser has helped us put thousands of dollars into the art classroom and other PTO sponsored events and projects.
