Oakwood School Families,

Words cannot express how excited we are to welcome students back to the school building beginning January 11th and January 12th. It will be so wonderful to see everyone in person once again!!   Students in the B group will come to school every Monday and Thursday, starting January 11th. Students in the A group will come to school every Tuesday and Friday, starting January 12th.  On Wednesdays, all students will be virtual.

It’s winter gear wear time.  ALL students need snowpants, boots, etc.  Since we keep classes in their cohorts for recess, they will not be provided a choice in locations, meaning there will be days they will be on the field, on the playground, or on the blacktop.  They will need proper clothing in order to be in these places.

Drop off time is 7:30 AM.  Drop off will take place along the sidewalk (indicated at Point D on the map), Students should be ready to quickly hop out of the car and move along. Cars will then make the loop around the  circle. Students will then head into the building.  They will then go directly to their classrooms.  Section E on the map was for parents that need to park to bring their children into school for some reason, due to COVID, this year you will NOT be ALLOWED to bring your child inside.  If you need to talk to a teacher or the office, you will need to email or call.

As you exit to Omro Road, you make a right turn only and then continue on your way. All students who ride the bus are dropped off in the front of the school on Oakwood Road.  NO students should be dropped off at this entrance prior to 7:45 AM. In order to reduce the large volume of cars and reduce your chances of having your children be tardy, please consider utilizing the school bus service or car pooling with other families.

At the end of the day, students who ride the bus are delivered to their buses by their teachers and staff members. This year, bus riders will be dismissed one bus at a time, then walking out to load onto the busses.

For those of you who will be picking your children up at the end of the day, this is a NEW procedure.  Due to Co-Vid 19, you are not permitted to enter the building to gather up your children as you did in the past.  So you will need to remain in vehicles.  This may take us some time and there will most likely be mistakes made.  Please be patient with us.  The fastest way to get home is to have them take the bus and we do highly recommend that you take advantage of that opportunity.

Here’s the plan we have created: (regardless of A or B days):

  1. If your last name starts with A-M your pick up time is 2:40 PM and if it ends with N-Z your time is 2:50 PM.  These times were created in an effort to reduce congestion, please honor your assigned time. *If you are carpooling, choose one or the other of the times.
  2. On early release, those times will be 12:30 PM and 12:40 PM.
  3. Make a sign with your children's LAST name clearly written and easy for us to read.  Place it in the front passenger side window.
  4. You will enter the parking lot off Omro Road by Sheldon Nature Area. Cones will be placed in front of the basket hoop on the North side of the parking lot.  You will  pull up and begin creating 4 rows of vehicles.
  5. We will radio in to retrieve your children and bring them to your vehicles. You will then be directed to exit. Once all the vehicles have been filled, the next group of cars will fill in and the procedure will continue.

Other safety reminders:

  • Masks must be worn at all times. The only exception is while actively eating lunch or snack.
  • Practice social distancing as much as possible.
  • Do NOT come to school if you are experiencing symptoms.

Again, we are SO excited to see ALL of you in person once again.  As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or highlights you would like to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Wishing you well,

Mrs. Susan L. Martin
