Monday, March 29th - Friday, April 2nd: No School -- Spring Break
Oakwood School Families,
It is hard to believe that it is already the beginning of March. Students have transitioned from hybrid back to in person learning seamlessly! The thrill of seeing everyone back in the building is still overwhelming and fills our hearts with JOY!!
The Oakwood Staff would personally like to thank all of our families for the amazing job they have done with before and after school pick-up. It took a little while for everyone to get the hang of things, but we seem to be running smoothly now! THANK YOU!!
This week begins Read Across America Month here at Oakwood! Each week we have chosen two themes and have various books selected for teachers to read in their classrooms. These themes/books expose our students to people, thoughts, and ideas that might be different from our own, yet fundamentally we are all more alike than we may know.
-
March 1 - March 5 Celebrate You and Families
-
March 8 - March 12 Different Cultures and Immigration
-
March 15 - March 19 Taking Action and Influential Americans
-
March 22 - March 26 A Special Surprise Week Sponsored by the PTO...more details to come!!
In just a few short weeks, we will be heading into Spring Break and following that, we will begin to administer the Wisconsin Forward Exam. There will be more details sent to you about that in the coming weeks, but our Oakwood eAcademy Students will begin our testing cycle the week of April 12th followed by the 3rd grade, and then finishing up with our 4th and 5th grade students. Please keep this in mind if you are thinking of taking any additional time off, as it is very important that your child participates in this testing.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or you would like to share something amazing that is happening, please feel free to contact me!!
Wishing you all well,
Mrs. Susan L. Martin

Oakwood Elementary will be selling yearbooks through Network Photography. The yearbook will cost $12 this year. Please reserve your copy of the 2020-2021 school yearbook by returning the completed order envelope with payment enclosed to your classroom by Wednesday, March 24th.
It's almost time for our annual Art to Remember fundraiser! For those of you who are new to Oakwood, Art to Remember is a great way to support your budding artist and our school. In the coming weeks you'll receive an image of your child's artwork and an order form with various keepsakes you can purchase for you, grandparents, or your child to enjoy!
All orders will be done online this year, so if you haven't created an account in years past, be sure to create one when your child's order form comes home this year. The online accounts are easy to use, and they give you access to projects from past years.

Dear Parents and Students:
I wanted to reach out again to share some important information regarding our Covid-19 guidelines.
Here are some things your school nurse is asking you to do to help us:
-
Notify me if you are currently under quarantine or isolation (elizabeth.lynch@oshkosh.k12.wi.us)
-
Continue to monitor your student’s health by using the OASD Student Daily Health Screen
-
If you are able to answer “yes” to any of the questions, DO NOT send your child or their siblings to school. Please notify the school that your child and siblings will be absent and state the reason for staying home.
-
We will call you to determine a return-to-school date. This is a new part of our job this year that can feel very invasive. We have to call and ask questions regarding your child’s health. Your cooperation will help us to follow the guidelines and continue to keep the doors open for in-person learning.
-
-
Don't send your child to school if anyone in your house:
-
is waiting for Covid test results
-
has a positive test result
-
is having symptoms consistent with Covid.
-
-
Update your Infinite Campus contact information so we can get a hold of you if your children need to be picked up from school. If you can not do it yourself, please contact your school’s front office.
-
Understand our team of Covid contact tracers are following protocol from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Winnebago County Public Health Department. We follow these protocols to keep your children and the staff in our schools as safe as possible during a pandemic.
