Thursday, June 3rd:  LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for students!

Reminders:

  • The Oakwood water fountains will remain shut off for the remainder of the school year due to Covid.  Please make sure that your child has a water bottle that they can refill at their classroom sink.

  • Parents/visitors are not allowed in school without approval from the Principal/Office.  Please remain outside while waiting for your child to come in or out of school.

Fifth Grade Promotion

This year's promotion ceremony will look a little different.  Because of Covid restrictions, we are not able to have an in-person ceremony as we have in years past.  Instead, each classroom will celebrate in their classrooms, handing out certificates, awards, and enjoying cupcakes provided by our gracious PTO.  We then plan to have a 5th grade "afternoon of fun" outside.  We will eat lunch outside, play games, sign yearbooks and reminisce, sharing memories of our time at Oakwood!  If it happens to rain, we have fun stations planned for each of the 5th grade classrooms.

Dear Oakwood School Families,

It is hard to believe that this LONG year is finally coming to an end.  We have certainly had our ups and downs!  Through it all though it has been a privilege and honor for all of us here at Oakwood to serve your children each and every day!  Their smiling faces are the reason we become educators in the first place and the reason we come to work each day!!

I hope the wind down of the school year continues to run smoothly for all of us and that all of you have a wonderful summer.  Enjoy time together as families and cherish each moment!!

Wishing you all well,

Susan L Martin - Principal

          It’s Tick Season!!

I know, it’s not something to be excited about, but we can learn about ticks to make tick season more tolerable. The beautiful playground and woods surrounding our school are the exact type of area that ticks love to live in.  So, what can our students do to prevent ticks from attaching to their skin?

Students should watch for ticks on their clothes when entering the building in the morning and after any recess.  If the tick is crawling on their skin or clothes, they should remove the tick immediately and notify a teacher or recess supervisor.  If a student finds a tick that is already attached to their skin, they should come to the health office as soon as they notify their teacher.  While we are unable to remove the attached tick at school, we will call and notify parents what we have found. Parents can then come to school and remove the tick or take the child home to remove the tick.  Please remember that if you do remove an attached tick at home, it is best to keep the tick in a clear baggie in case you later need to identify the type of tick.

The CDC has great information on tick removal, bite prevention and when to contact a doctor after a tick bite. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at elizabeth.lynch@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
