  • Student hours for 2021-2022 are 7:45-2:45.   If students arrive in the classroom after 7:45-7:55 they are marked tardy.

  • In an effort to provide safety and security, the doors remained locked before, during and after the school day.

  • Breakfast will be served in the classroom.  We will NOT have early arrival time for breakfast.

  • Grades K-2 lunch is from 11:00-11:30 am / Grades 3-5 lunch is from 11:15-11:45 am

  • Due to the pandemic, we are not able to have guests for lunch this year or have volunteers in the building.

Oakwood School Families,

Well...we have made it through the first three days of school!!  And school is off to a GREAT start!!  These are always the most difficult in terms of transitions.  As we all get used to procedures and how things run they will get easier.  Of course I think we can all agree that EVERYTHING will be easier once the construction is complete!!

I would like to clarify or explain a couple of procedures for all of you as there seems to be some confusion.

Morning Carpool:  Drop off does not begin until 7:30 AM.  This time is set because that is when teaching staff begin their day and there is supervision to ensure that students can get out of their cars and make it safely to the playground.

Bussed Students do arrive a bit earlier.  There are a limited number of staff that arrive to get the students safely off the buses and out to the playground.  At 7:30 AM, more staff arrive and head out to help supervise out on the playground as well.

There are almost 400 students here at Oakwood.  In order to keep everyone safe we MUST have enough staff to supervise and watch the children.

So you have some choices.  If you need your children to be at school earlier than 7:30 AM, you can have them ride the bus or you can enroll them in the YMCA morning care program.  There is still plenty of space in that program.

Together, we CAN get all the children to and from school safely!!

Wishing you all well,

Susan L Martin - Principal

Hello OASD Parent,

My name is Hannah Wind and I work at the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry. I want to reach out regarding our food services and the food assistance your child may have received from Feeding Hungry Kids this summer. We want to work together to best support your child’s needs and provide holistic help if needed.

You may notice that your child has some additional food items coming home with them this 2021 fall semester. This comes from our School Pantry Program where our pantry tries to provide a variety of healthy snacks, including some allergy-friendly options that your child is able to choose from, an emergency stash of meal items they are able to take home and some fresh fruit. If there are items that you do not want them to take, please let them know the next time.

Thank you for allowing us to contribute to the schools, we hope that we are able to assist in your child’s success. If you would like additional food and services, please visit us at 2551 Jackson St. inside the St. Vincent De Paul building to the left. It is easy to register your family to shop and your kids can even shop for their own food in our Kids Corner. The required documentation for every adult in the home is photo ID AND proof of address. For every child in the home, you will need a social security card OR proof of insurance OR birth certificate. Our hours are listed on our website at Oacptoday.org.

If you have specific questions, comments or suggestions about the program, please call or
email me at manager@oacptoday.org and I will do whatever I can to help.

Thank you again!

Updated OASD Free School Meal Distribution

Free school meals are available at one distribution time and location only. The distribution will be Wednesdays from 5 - 7 p.m. at Oshkosh West High School (main parking lot - enter on Taft Avenue and exit on Eagle Street). Those accessing free meals cannot enter the school parking lot until 4:30 p.m. to allow students and staff to safely exit the area before the distribution begins.

  • Free Family Food Boxes: In addition to a week’s worth of school meals, families will also be able to receive Farm to Family Food Boxes - a partnership with Feeding America - which has been extended through the month of May. LEARN MORE

DIRECTIONS: All traffic must enter Eastbound on Taft Avenue (making a right turn into the parking lot). There will only be one line to enter the parking lot. Anyone attempting to enter Westbound on Taft (making a left turn into the parking lot) will be asked to continue down to the end of the line. This is to ensure proper traffic flow and safety. No one is to enter off of Eagle Street for the meal distribution. This entrance is only to be used by students, staff and athletics accessing the parking lot.

  1. Meals will be distributed for five days at a time and will include a breakfast, lunch, and supper for each day.

  2. Milk will be offered with all meals.

  3. Meals are available and are free to anyone age 18 and under.

***At this time, all students will receive free meals again for the 2021 – 2022 School Year.  However, we still highly encourage families to fill out free and reduced applications in order to qualify for other benefits.

FREE AND REDUCED MEAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July.  Please return your completed application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, WI  54902, or the Elementary School Office your child attends on or before the first day of school.

LIMITED LUNCH SERVICE AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS are used when a student is very negative in their lunch account and the family has been notified by Food Service that service will cease if the account isn’t brought current.  If the student doesn’t bring a sack lunch or cash to pay for the lunch the Food Service Department will allow the student to eat a limited lunch.  The limited lunch will consist of 2 pieces of bread and a peanut butter cup (as the entrée) and then will be allowed to have the fruit, veggies and milk offered and the account will get charged accordingly for the limited lunch.  They will NOT be able to have their choice of an entrée.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT

The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving breakfast and / or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.  Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available.  Please see the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.

Please call 424-4936 for any questions. Thank you!
