Oakwood School Families,

WELCOME Back to the 2024-25  School Year!!

I know I speak for the entire Oakwood School Family when I say we are SO EXCITED to have your child(ren) back with us!!  We are here for kids so we need the kids here!!🥰

Attached here is our School Family Handbook.  This handbook includes lots of information about Oakwood School. Please be sure to check out the Transportation Section on page 6,  Birthday treat info on page 12, and School Safety protocols on page 17.

Walking School Bus

Have you heard the exciting news that we have a Walking School Bus at Oakwood and will soon have a second route starting? More information and a map of that route will be available soon. The Walking School Bus runs on the days that the route leader shares with you once you turn in the permission slip, expectations form, and family contact information. 

What is a Walking School Bus? It is a group of students walking to school with trusted adults. It saves you time as a family to ensure your child/children have a safe route to school. So if long bus rides or long lines in Carpool are bringing you down, this might be the solution for your family. 

Our route that is up and running will start at Spring Valley Road and continue onto Sheldon Drive to arrive at Oakwood. Our new route will be in the Sheboygan Street area and continue West to Oakwood (more details coming soon.)

If you are interested in either route, please reach out to Mrs. Kroll at sara.kroll@oshkosh.k12.wi.us . I am happy to answer any questions you may have and get any paperwork to you, including a map of the route with pick up times.

Please reach out to your child's teacher if you wish to volunteer in the classroom, on field trips, etc.  Volunteers need to complete a volunteer application.

 

Click on the below link to pre-pay for school pictures which will be on Tuesday, October 1st.  (Re-take day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th)

All district-wide students should have a Walking Field Trip form on file as students may periodically leave school grounds to practice safety drills by walking to the fire station, etc.  This form can be filled out in the School Store in Infinite Campus.  

Welcome Back to School! 

This is a friendly reminder from the school nurse to turn in your student’s health action plans for asthma, allergy, seizure, or medication to the health office. 

Please update your student’s immunization files or sign a waiver as needed.

FREE AND REDUCED MEAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be
mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July. Please return your completed
application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St.,
Oshkosh, WI 54902, or the Elementary School Office your child attends on or before
the first day of school.

HAVE LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD All Elementary Schools and the Food Services
Department invites parents of school-age children to have lunch with their child any
school day. Please let the school office know in advance so we can make sure a lunch
gets ordered for you. You may bring money with you to pay for the meal or the adult
lunch can be charged to your students Food Service Account.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT
The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving
breakfast and / or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in
length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.
Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available. Please see
the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities
along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.
